On Saturday, October 15th, the EHHS Boys Varsity Soccer team won the league title for the first time in 8 years. They finished the season 10-0-1, 2nd in Suffolk, and 12th in Class A. This should come as no surprise since most of these boys have surrounded themselves with soccer all their lives. In fact, many describe it as being almost born into soccer due to family traditions. To them, it isn’t just a sport; it’s a passion. A passion that has united them all in spite of the hardships that we’ve all faced over the last few years.
This year, the team is lucky enough to be led by three co-captains: Seniors Eric Armijos (#10) and Michael Figueroa (#7), and Junior Brian Tacuri (#3) who will continue to lead the team in the following season. All these players dedicate their time to building their skills. Every game or practice, this team works hard under their coaches’ leadership. Growing up with some of these players and seeing how much dedication and perseverance they have is inspiring. You can see their smiles on the field, feeling proud of themselves, looking over the bleachers, and seeing their support from family and friends.
You can see on the field how passionate these boys are about doing what they love. These athletes have grown to feel that the field is their 2nd home. Wish them luck as they continue to seek glory. Go Bonac!!
