Girls’ Basketball 2019-20

The girl’s varsity basketball team has had and will expect many competitive games this year. Coach Brooks says, “It has been a challenge for us this year, especially since we have moved up a league.” The coach’s main goal this season is for her players to come together and play as a team instead of playing as individuals.

The players to watch for in future games are seniors Emma Silvera, Tia Weiss, Alden Powers, and junior Paige Cordone. The team is expecting captains, Alden Powers and Tia Weiss, to lead the varsity team to its first win in upcoming games.

This year’s varsity squad has gained three impressive additions to the team. Coach Brooks expects great things from freshman players Claire McGovern, Baye Boggeti, and Caroline DiSunno. The coach anticipates these three players to be the future leaders of girls varsity basketball at East Hampton.

While the varsity team gained new and talented players this season, it is unfortunate to have to say goodbye to the more experienced seniors leaving the team after the end of the season. Alden Powers, Tia Weiss, Emma Silvera, Kailey Marmeno, Emily Brewer, and Armani Gordon will bid their farewells when the whistle blows at the last game this year. The girl’s varsity basketball team will have to deal with the loss of six players next year, which is a huge loss compared to having lost only one player the previous season.

Come and support the Lady Bonackers at their next home game against West Babylon on Wednesday, December 18th!
