You have to get into your opponent’s head with small moves like tapping him on the head. If you lose, you have to analyze how the guy beat you and meet him again in leagues so that you’ll know how to beat him.
Even if you don’t think you would be good at wrestling, you should try it because it is a great way to relieve stress. It shows you how you can actually handle more than you think. You have to be really focussed when you are facing an opponent. This can improve your focus in other areas of your life, like school. Also, the commitment to the team is something that helps you stay on top of your schoolwork because you have to keep your grades up to stay on the team.
You have to work out intensely, every day. It’s not about your natural size and strength, it is about how hard you work, because the other guy is going to be training just as hard, and if you slack off, he’ll beat you. Wrestling also helps you to think about being a healthier you. It makes you think about what you put into your body and to take responsibility for your health.
The most important thing is your stamina and your attitude. If you go in scared, you’re going to lose. But even if the other guy is bigger than you, if you can outlast him, you can win. It’s all about mental strength and toughness.
